Home town of Gioacchino Rossini and of the Italian aviation hero Francesco Baracca, Lugo has an interesting well preserved town centre with several civil and religious buildings testifying his importance along the centuries. Its most relevant buildings are the Este fortress and Pavaglione, which is a four-side arcaded court originally built in the XVIII century as a silk worm market; after six hundred years, Wednesday market is still held here. |
