Mostra di Tinin Mantegazza

From 27th April to 7th July 2019. The exhibition is centred on the untiring creative mind of Tinin Mantegazza, illustrator, painter, scenographer and author.

"The seven lives of a cheeky creative mind"!

Opening ceremony: Saturday, 27 April - 17.30

The exhibition is centred on the untiring creative mind of Tinin Mantegazza, illustrator, painter, scenographer and author, an artist who has explored the fields of journalism, film direction, television, cultural animation and theatrical organisation over the years

The exhibition path traces the main laps of his outstanding artistic career, offering the public an extensive choice of works and documents that manifest the many facets of his creative flair. Indeed, since the 1950s he has partnered the editorial boards of La Notte and Corriere dei Piccoli, and has also opened a small art gallery, La Muffola, where, besides the exhibitions of artists such as Luzzati, Pericoli, Rossello, Ceretti and others, he also showcased young actors and singers, such as Enzo Jannacci, Giorgio Gaber, Paolo Poli, Cochi and Renato and Bruno Lauzi, leading up to the historical Cab ’64.
With his wife Velia, he started making puppets and animating them in original ways for theatrical and television events, also establishing Teatro del Buratto, partnering Enzo Biagi and directing important cultural events and institutions.
The works displayed, which span more than 250 original drawings, paintings, puppets, photographs, filmed shots and documents, include evidence of his scathing social and political criticism, of his role as animator in the early years of Milanese cabaret, and of his most famous creations for the extensive public, such as famous Mr. Toto or the puppet Dodò who performed in L’Albero Azzurro, the RAI television broadcast for children.
Curated by: Flaminio Balestra and Diego Galizzi at the Museo Civico delle Cappuccine.

The exhibition will be enhanced by side events. Please refer to the schedule on the website.
